Great Welsh Beer & Cider Festival
One of the highlights of my trip was attending the Great Welsh Beer & Cider Festival. This was a regional festival sponsored by CAMRA - The Campaign For Real Ale. CAMRA is dedicated to preserving Great Britain's long tradition of serving real cask-conditioned ales. This festival was held in what might also serve as a conference room in Cardiff City Hall.
As you can see space was tight, but the beer flowed smoothly! The banner hanging in the background is from Brains - a local Cardiff Brewery that was excellent. There were many Brains affiliated pubs throughout Cardiff!
A long row of Cask Ales served many thirsty Ale lovers.
I had the pleasure of meeting Stephen Simons a well traveled chef and beer lover!
It was a very nice, slightly packed beer festival. I was fortunate to be there in December because I got to try many delicious holiday beers!
The Festival was within walking distance from my hotel. My path took me right through Cardiff's shopping district.
This was a long pedestrian mall filled with just about every type of store you could imagine! This rivals some of the shopping areas of London! Cardiff also had another unique shopping feature - Arcades. Back in the 1800's many of Cardiff's alleys were covered with glass roofs creating unique enclosed shopping Arcades.
The Arcades were beautifully decorated for Christmas!
Another feature of Cardiff was its endless supply of pubs! I only scratched the surface with the ones I visited!
And I only took pictures of a few!
